TWD: Honey Nut Brownies
Whenever I flipped past this week’s Tuesdays With Dorie recipe, Honey Nut Brownies, in Baking, I’d think of breakfast cereal – but I was always intrigued. It’s certainly not a flavor combination I would think of. Since we were a little uncertain about these, I made a half recipe, which seemed like a lot of brownie batter and these did bake up very thick. As far as brownies, go these definitely are on the cakey side, though I felt like they did have a bit of chew to them. I think a chocolate glaze would be stupendous on these and really bring the flavors together. You know, they just could have used a little something extra. However, they are being consumed just fine.
We rated this recipe a 7 for Deliciousness and I gave it a 2.5 for Effort, for an EDR of 2.8. Thanks to Suzy of Suzy Homemaker for giving us an opportunity to try this unique combination. You can find the recipe here on Suzy’s site and visit the TWD site to see what the rest of the group thought of this treat.
Your brownies look like they have the perfect ratio of cake to gooeiness! Next time, I'm aiming for that.
ReplyDeleteMargot, they look wonderful! I love *cakey* brownies.... I hear you though, that they could have used a little something else. Good to know!
ReplyDeleteI was scared away by the honey in these, but they look tasty. Where's the ice cream?!
ReplyDeleteYours look great! I was surprised at how thick mine were too. Mine are super gooey and I suppose I should have baked them longer, but I just couldn't tell!
ReplyDeletethey look beautiful. Glad you had success with them- I think the taste and cakey texture threw a lot of people off.
ReplyDeleteYour brownies look really good Margot! I actually baked these and wound up not posting them; I just thought the honey was too overpowering. You may be on to something with the chocolate glaze idea :)
ReplyDeleteYours look just like mine - for which I am relieved. I kinda liked these - perhaps because cakey brownies were my first and only experience with brownies until TWD.
ReplyDeleteYour brownies look great! Im glad you enjoyed them. They were much better on the second day!
ReplyDeleteI knew you would manage to do these perfectly. Yep, I just knew it.
